It's New Year's Eve, and it's the time of year when a lot of people make resolutions. Usually something they want to change, something they want to do better, or do differently, or stop doing. Some way they want to improve upon themselves. There's nothing wrong with this practice, it just hasn't worked out too well for me.
I haven't made a resolution for the past few years. It just doesn't seem to hold a lot of meaning for me. This year, I plan to focus on creating something. My sankalpa, or resolve for 2017 is to create a more abundant life. How do I plan to do that? By wanting what I have, rather than always wanting more. By expressing appreciation and gratitude for my friends and family. And, by showing compassion for others, but also for myself. We can be our own worst critics, and that is certainly true for me.
What will you create in 2017? Think about your sankalpa, write it down, and then join me on New Year's day for a special class at 4:00pm. We will focus on sankalpa as we spend some time in deliciously restorative poses. Then, we will finish with a Yoga Nidra practice. This is the most relaxing form of yoga. I will guide you as you focus on your sankalpa and allow your entire body to completely relax, while your mind remains completley aware.
Don't forget, $5 classes! We will have tickets available in the studio before and after the 4:00pm New Year's Day class, and all day January 1st on the website. Tickets are $5 each, and can be used for your 2017 classes. Buy as many as you like. This means that your classes in 2017 can cost you only $5. Use two tickets for Hot Yoga, and it's still a great deal! Tickets will be honored for six months (until June 30th, 2017), so stock up and give yourself the gift of yoga in 2017!
Namaste my friends!
