Getting Hygge for Health!

Baby, it's cold outside, and if that has you feeling less than your usual dazzling self, you're not alone. Intense cold and pressure changes can impact your health, including increased pain caused by inflammation. Try this hot turmeric tea. It's a great way to #gethygge and help yourself feel better, too.

Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful antioxidant with very effective anti-inflammatory effects. It is also the number one natural dye in the world, so take care when working with fresh turmeric.

Combining turmeric with black pepper is believed to improve the effectiveness of the spice by helping it to more readily absorb into the bloodstream.

Ginger is also an anti-inflammatory and has analgesic properties.

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

Add 1 teaspoon of powdered turmeric, 1 teaspoon of powdered ginger, and a few whole black peppercorns.

Reduce the heat, and let this simmer for about 10 minutes.

Strain off the spices. You can pour the hot tea into a thermos to keep it hot, or re-heat as needed.

Add a little raw local honey and lemon, enjoy!

Experiment with different tastes, try adding a little cinnamon!
